Marie Grace (Serrano) Ward

Marie Grace Ward was born October 14, 1936 in Woodland, California to Bessie and Fidel Serrano. She passed away October 4, 2014 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 20 days.

Marie grew up in the Los Angeles, California area. She later moved to Colusa, California where she graduated from high school. She was married to Richard Garcia in 1955 and they lived in Colusa. She later married J. C. "Red" Ward in 1968 and they lived and worked on a ranch in Willows, CA. In 1975, they moved to Sayre and lived on a ranch south of town and also kept a house in town. Marie loved to crochet and had won many blue ribbons at the county fair. She also knitted hats which donated to children in the cancer unit at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Her family was her greatest love and she always treasured the time she spent with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, J.C. Ward, a son, Nicholas Gomez, 3 brothers, Fidel Serrano, Jr., Albert Serrano and David Rosales.

A memorial service will be held October 11, 2014 at 10:00 am at Rose Chapel officiated by Dennis Knight. Arrangements are under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Sayre.
