Arrangements are pending at Whitehurst Loyd Funeral Service for James Ward, 87, who died yesterday in a local hospital.

Graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hillcrest Memorial Park for James "Jim" E. Ward, 87, of Porterville.

He died Wednesday in a local hospital after a short illness.

He was a native of Oklahoma and had lived in Porterville 35 years. He was a maintenance foreman for the Santa Fe Railroad and was a member of the Porterville First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey Ward of Porterville, a son, Grady Ward of Illinois; a daughter, Geraldine Baldwin of Porterville and four grandchildren.

The Dr. Jonathan Rainbow of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Arrangements are by Whitehurst Loyd Funeral Service.
