Chleo Geneva Ward of Ponca City, Oklahoma, departed this life to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday evening, August 22, 2008, at the Ponca City Regional Hospital in Ponca City, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years, nine months and one day.
Chleo Geneva Ward was born on November 21, 1914, in Green Forest, Arkansas, to Duncan and Lorene (Beasley) Hughes.
She grew up in Green Forest attending school there. On May 13, 1932, she was united in marriage to Wilburn Ward in Green Forest, Arkansas. Chleo lived with her family in Harrison, Arkansas, where she was employed for more than fifty years in the retail profession. She moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, in 1995 to be near her son. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma..
She is survived by her son, Leon Ward and wife Beverly of Ponca City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Dr. Kevin Ward of Paragould, Arkansas, Scott Ward of Owasso, Oklahoma, Albert Bowen of Springdale, Arkansas, and Susan Moore of Rogers, Arkansas; eleven great grandchildren; and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters, Veleta Faye Ward, and Wilba Lea Bowen; three sisters; and one brother.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, in the First Assembly of God Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma, with Pastor Micah Wells officiating. Graveside services and burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 27, 2008, in the Maplewood Cemetery in Harrison, Arkansas.
Casketbearers will be Kevin Ward, Scott Ward, Blake Ward, Jared Ward, Zachary Moore and Keith Moore.
A memorial has been established in her honor at the First Assembly of God Church, Building Fund, in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma, 74631.
