Memorial service for Karon Sue Wanzer, 74, of Fairview, will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Karon was born February 1, 1944 to Lonnie Clifford and Gladis Erma (Gilpin) Shelton in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She grew up in Barnsdall, Oklahoma until the 6th grade. The family moved to Seminole, Texas where her father later retired. The family moved once again to Blackwell, Oklahoma. Karon worked various jobs through the years. She was a custodian for the Central Christian Church in Fairview where she also was a member. She retired from the Major County Conservation District in April of 2015.
Karon was blessed with two children, Shelly and Darren. She dearly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her grandsons were the light of her life. Karon tried never to miss an activity her grandson's participated in. She enjoyed traveling, trying new restaurants, and seeing music shows in Branson with her special friend. Karon was a selfless soul with a servant's heart and so enjoyed doing for others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and one brother.
Left to mourn her are: her daughter Shelly (Todd) Nightengale of Fairview, OK, son, Darren (Brett) O'Meara of Oklahoma City, OK, three grandsons; Logan (Madison) Nightengale, Grant (Jill Boeckman) Nightengale and Preston O'Meara, three special nieces; Judy, Kay and Debbie and one nephew Lonnie, and many friends.
Memorials can be made to Central Christian Church with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
