He was a dispatcher and an officer with the Hennessey Police Dept.; a dispatcher and deputy at the Kingfisher County Sheriff 's Office, and most recently was a sergeant at the Lamont Police Dept.

As a teenager he would call his mother's friends to get recipes so he could make them. As an adult, Nick loved to grill, cook and eat and shared his food with family and friends. He always made the turkey for Thanksgiving after his grandmother Adele was no longer able to do it.

His daughter was the light of his life. Her smiles and laughter kept him going during his many surgeries over the past three years.

He is survived by his daughter, Emerald Beckham of Enid; mother, Barbara A. Walter of Hennessey; three sisters, Jill D. Jenkins of Edmond; Tracy L. Anderson of Perry, and Amy C. Carpenter of Edmond, and one brother, Courtney B. Walter of Chesterfield, Mo.; four nieces, three nephews and one great-niece. Also, Lisa Robertson, the mother of his daughter, and other special friends, Mike Moncrief of Tulsa, Mike Jones and family of Hennessey, and Marissa Choate of Hennessey.
