Jerry Ray Walter
August 27, 1946  ~ September 29, 2015

Jerry Ray Walters, son of John Peter and Leathy Adaline (Vaughn) Walters, was born August 27, 1946 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and departed this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the age of 69 years.

Jerry was born at home in Stilwell. He attended school at Proctor, Christie and Westville, where he enjoyed playing softball. After attending High school he entered the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and received the Ranking of Private First Class. Jerry took great pride in serving his country.

After the military, Jerry married Sissy Scott and the two of them raised two children; Michael Ray and Jerri Raylyn "Punkin". As a family, they enjoyed many outdoor activities, including camping on the creek. Jerry held a couple jobs throughout the years but he retired from Franklin Electric after many years of employment.

Jerry's hobbies were small engine repair, as well as building automobile engines. He loved spending time in his shop where he not only worked as a mechanic but as a cook and entertained many friends and family members that would stop by. Jerry enjoyed hunting as well. He loved his family and friends and the time he was able to spend with them. Over the years Jerry suffered injuries from several automobile accidents that presented many physical challenges for him, however he did not allow those challenges to hinder his joy for life. Jerry will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him.

His parents: John and Leathy Walters, brothers: Bart, Wayne, J.C. and Burl, sisters: Renie Rector, Sharon Lawrence and Delphia Kolb preceded him in death.

Jerry is survived by a loving family that includes his wife: Sylvia (Scott) Walters of the home, children: Michael Ray Walters of Proctor, OK, Jerri Raylyn Harrison and husband Chris of Westville, OK, grandchildren: Kolby Thurber and husband Brian of Sallisaw, OK, Shelby Childs and husband Brent of Tahlequah, Payton Walters of Stillwater, OK, Logan Harrison and wife Haylie of Westville, brother: Rick Walters of Idaho, sister: Shirley Colunga of Fayetteville, AR, aunts: Rosalee Vaughn and Pearly Young, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
