Emma Jane Hoff Wallace was born June 13, 1950, in Greenville, Texas to James E (Buddy) Hoff and Jane Marie (White) Hoff.
She grew up in Greenville, Texas along with her sister, Christie Hoff, and brother Jay Hoff. Their most memorable days growing up were spent on Greenville Club Lake where their grandparents, Bill and Bartis Hoff, were proud to be charter members since 1922. Cabin life was at its finest with many days of hunting rocks and critters along with swimming, cane pole fishing, boating and water skiing.
In high school Janie (Emma) was chosen for the famous Flashes Dance Team. After graduating, she attended East Texas State University where she received her Bachelor's degree in Special Education and continued with courses throughout her career. Her love was always for the children by equipping them with the best education possible. She changed many lives and made lifelong connections with many of these children. Her teaching career included schools in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.
After 40 years in education, she decided to concentrate on her second life which was raising paint and miniature horses, chows, rottweiler dogs and many cats and other dogs.
Janie met Ben T Wallace, the love of her life, through a mutual friend. They married in Lone Oak, Texas, on October 10, 1986. After 12 years of marriage their love of horses and prairie brought them to a beautiful ranch in Hominy, Oklahoma, which is her final resting place.
Janie’s love of life took them to new places exploring New Mexico, Colorado, and Wyoming where they made many lifelong friends along the way. They enjoyed listening to great music with favorites being the Letterman, Tony Orlando, and Mel Tillis.
After a lengthy illness Janie lost her battle and is now pain free and at peace. January 1, 2024, took her to her Heavenly Home. She is preceded in death by her mother in 2001, and her daddy in 1997. Survived by her devoted and loving husband Ben T. Wallace, sister Christie Hoff, brother Jay Hoff and her extended family Gerald and Ida Deats along with her devoted friends Bobbie Bartlett, Nancy Maxwell, Patti Denman Earls and many other treasured friends.
Memorial Gatherings will be 2:00-4:00 pm Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Osage Casino Ballroom 1421 John Dahl Ave in Pawhuska, Oklahoma 74056 and 1:00-4:00 PM Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Fletcher Warren Civic Center, 5501 Business Hwy 69 S, Greenville, Texas 75402
Appreciation is extended from the Wallace family to Powell Funeral Service in Hominy, Oklahoma.
