Anna Rose (Summers) Wall

Anna Rose (Summers) Wall
September 18, 1924 ~ March 20, 2013

Anna Rose (Summers) Wall was born in Washington, Virginia, September 18, 1924, the first of six children of William and Stuart Summers. Shortly after her birth they moved to Canton, Ohio where her five siblings were born. Her mother passed away when Anna was ten years old. Her father then moved the children to Washington, Virginia where they lived with grandparents.

Anna was a musical genius. She taught her siblings (Robert, William and David) how to sing and read music, and they became the Summers Brothers Trio. They sang at the majority of churches in that area and at school activities and they always won first place in contests. Their trio broke up when the oldest boy, Robert, went away to attend school.

Approximately three years after moving to Virginia, both grandparents passed away and Anna was thrust into the role of caring for her five siblings (buying groceries, preparing meals, etc.). She continued in that role until her younger siblings went off to school to obtain a higher education.

Shortly after the youngest graduated, Anna married Ernest Roy and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. That marriage ended in divorce and Anna went to work in a tailor shop where she specialized in alterations and interior decorations (for weddings, etc.) Several years after she divorced her first husband she married William Wall. That marriage lasted until he passed away several years ago. After his death, Anna continued to live in their Philadelphia home until she fell down a flight of stairs and broke both of her legs. She then moved into a nursing home in Philadelphia, where she lived until she relocated to the nursing center in Midwest City, Oklahoma.

Anna was an active member and choir member of White Rock Baptist Church in Philadelphia. She attended every Sunday until she moved into the nursing home.

Anna is survived by her brother William Summers and his wife, three daughters and their families; one brother and three sisters all of Canton, Ohio; one brother of Front Royal, Virginia and other relatives and friends living in Pennsylvania, Ohio, California and Virginia.

Anna has been a positive influence in our lives; We love her dearly and we will miss her, and we will join her later in the Kingdom of God!
