Wiley Howard Waldrip

April 23, 1922 ~ November 20, 2015 (age 93)

  A memorial service for Howard Waldrip is scheduled for Monday, November 30, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at the Glenwood Church of Christ, 5210 Hollytree Dr. Tyler, TX., with James Fife, officiating.

Howard passed away November 20, 2015 at his home in Norman, Oklahoma, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bettye Potter Waldrip; son, Stephen Howard Waldrip; daughter, Julie Waldrip Ewing; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; also a sister, Bobbie Ferguson, of Granbury.

He was born in Chillicothe, TX on April 24, 1922, to John Wallace and Ruby Sorrows Waldrip. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served as a gunnery instructor at Kingman, AZ. As a student in Abilene Christian University, he met Bettye Potter from Tyler, TX. They were married on April 3, 1947.

After moving to Tyler, he was employed in the interior decorating business. He continued in this career for 51 years with clients in Tyler, East Texas, and other states.

Howard and Bettye were charter members of the Glenwood Church of Christ with a special interest in missions. He served as deacon and elder. His gift of decorating was used in building and remodeling projects of the church.
