James Granville Wadley

James Granville Wadley
March 11, 1939 ~ July 4, 2021

James Granville Wadley was born on March 11, 1939, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Dr. Frank K. Wadley and Garnet Searle Wadley. He was born and raised in Alva.

In 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Jarilyn Paul, and in 1959 he started Pharmacy School at Oklahoma University. Jim graduated from OU Pharmacy School in 1962 and moved to Dallas, TX, area. After working in several Independent Pharmacies, he purchased his own Pharmacy in Irving, TX. After moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, Jim worked in pharmacies in Benton and Hot Springs Village. He worked as a dedicated Pharmacist and loved helping other people for over 53 years.

He was an avid Classical Music listener. In his earlier years he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his two sons, family, and friends. In 1996 Jim and Jarilyn moved to Hot Springs Village, AR, and enjoyed playing golf together. After his retirement from the pharmacy, he joined the Village Card Club and enjoyed playing Bridge several times a week.

Jim died peacefully on July 4, 2021, at home. He was under Arkansas Hospice care and constantly surrounded by his wife and family for the last three months of his life.

Jim was preceded in death by both his parents and a sister, Mary Frances Slack. He is survived by his two brothers, George Wadley (Nancy) and Searles Wadley (Suzi). Jim and Jarilyn have two sons Greg and Mike (Julie). They have four grandchildren, Kelly (Eric McKee), Kyle, Grace, and Joe, whom Jim enjoyed and has dearly loved. They also have two great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Paul.

Jim loved and was loved by a very large close family. The family of 25-35 people have gathered for Thanksgiving every year for 47 years. Due to COVID-19, 2020 was the only year there was no reunion. He enjoyed all of the many nieces and nephews and was known to them for his understanding and great sense of humor.

A Service will be held in Oklahoma at a later date. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Hospice or any other charities of choice. Online condolences at www.caruth-hale.com.

He was under Arkansas Hospice Care and constantly surrounded by his wife and family for the last three months of life.

Memorial services for James Granville Wadley will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at the Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Searle Wadley officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
