Paul Eugene Vorhies

Paul Eugene Vorhies
February 13, 1940 ~ August 9, 2020

Paul Eugene Vorhies passed away on August 9th, 2020 in Spencer, Oklahoma at his home. He was born on February 13th, 1940 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Ora Vorhies and Mary Ball.

Paul attended Missessinewa High School in Jonesboro, Indiana, School of Nursing, University of Indiana, and school of Anesthesia in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. He became a freelance certified registered nurse anesthetist. Paul joined the Air Force in 1959 to 1963.

Paul was part of the Sons of the American Revolution. His hobbies included hunting, building, reading scripture and history, and mechanics.

On May 18th, 1968, Paul married the love of his life, Ruth Kathleen Schwieger. They went on to have two children, David C. Vorhies and Karen A. Vorhies Eggleston.

He was preceded in death by his parents Ora Vorhies and Mary Ball Vorhies. Paul is survived by his wife Ruth Vorhies; son David C. Vorhies and wife Nena Lara Vorhies; daughter Karen A. Vorhies Eggleston and husband Steven Eggleston; Step brother Edward Smith and wife Rose Ann Smith; grandchildren Carolyn Ashley Vorhies McAlliser of Colorado, Brett David Vorhies of North Dakota, Brockton Lara Vorhies, and Christian Anthony Crossley of McLoud, Oklahoma; and nephews Larry Ball and Ron Ball.

The family would like to thank Willa and Darrell Ferguson, Diane Smithson, Karen and Steve Eggleston, David Vorhies’ employer Stellar, and Karen’s workplace DLA Aviation Commodities for all the help during this difficult time.

Due to current COVID protocols, guests are encouraged to wear protective masks at all times while inside the funeral home and practice the recommended six foot social distancing.
