Wallace A. "Wally" Verrett

Wallace A. "Wally" Verrett
October 9, 1920 ~ May 17, 2011

Wallace A. Verrett, age 90, of College Station, went to be with his Lord at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Time for his family to receive friends will be Saturday, May 21 from 11:00 - 1:00 pm at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, Texas, and Friday, May 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Prater-Lampton-Mills and Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo, Oklahoma. Services will be Saturday, May 28 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Boswell, Oklahoma.

Wallace (known by all as Wally) was born October 9, 1920, to Edgar and Lucia (Bonin) Verret in Orange, Texas. After graduating from the University of Texas in Civil Engineering, he proudly served in the US Army during WWII.

He then married the love of his life, Wynema Self, on July 25, 1946, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He worked 34 years for C.F. Braun and Co. of California, moving to many different states, supervising construction projects for the oil and gas industry. Wally retired in 1982 to their homestead in Oklahoma. During his 28 retirement years, he led many local civic improvement projects. He was very proud to be a member of the Kiwanis Club of Boswell, Oklahoma, and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) of Paris, Texas. Wally stayed busy raising cattle, gardening, woodworking in his shop, exploring the Internet, taking online courses, and enjoying the many visits with his children and grandchildren. In May of 2010, a relocation to Texas was made to be closer to them.

He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Wynema; two sons, Ron Verrett of San Antonio and Vince Verrett of Houston; and two daughters, Debbie Burch of Austin and Brenda Lake of College Station; as well as eleven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
