September 5, 1940 ~ April 24, 2026

The come and go Celebration of life Memorial service celebrating the life of Larry Vencl, 85, of Ponca City, will be held 11:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. Thursday April 30, 2026 at the Ponca City Country Club 1101 N. Pecan Rd. Ponca City, OK 74604. Complete cremation care under the direction of Brown-Cummings, A life celebration home.

Larry was born September 5, 1940 to Jerry and Bernice (Deeds) Vencl in Hunter, Oklahoma and passed from this life April 24, 2026 in Ponca City, Oklahoma.

He was raised and educated in Hunter, OK graduating from Hunter School with the class of 1958. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Army and Honorably served his country until 1969, when he was honorably discharged. He married Lorna Forbes May 26, 1962 in Garber, Oklahoma, from this union came three children, Chad, LeAnn, and Angie. He was the owner and operator of Larry’s Sheet Metal for over 20 years.

When his children were growing up, he coached all three of them in several different sports. He was an avid OU fan and liked to watch NASCAR races and many other sports. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and coyote hunting. He always had a smile upon his face and loved to joke around. He loved listening to music, mostly country, and would often play his harmonica and accordion.

He is survived by two daughters, Angie Shymanski and husband Johnny and LeAnn Wyatt, all of Ponca City; six grandchildren, Taylor Hinch, Haden Wyatt, Will Wyatt, Levi Wyatt, Cherokee Vencl, and Noah Vencl; and two sisters, Bernita Daniell, of Enid, and Norma Smith, of Stillwater.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lorna Vencl, his son, Chad Vencl, his parents, Jerry and Bernice Vencl, and one sister, Linda Ensminger.
