A Memorial service for Mary E. Vegoren, 76, will be held at the Methodist Church in Geraldine, Montana at a later date. Arrangements are by Anderson - Burris Funeral Home.
Mary Ethel Hopkins was born December 17, 1922 at home, 15 miles east of Geraldine, Montana to Frank and Bandena Hopkins. She died August 21, 1999 at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.
Mary grew up and attended schools in Geraldine, and then married Kenneth Vegoren on September 14, 1941. They had five children; Kenny, Penny, David, Frances and Judith. They lived in the Geraldine area until moving to Enid in 1993. Mary was a homemaker, who liked to sing, knit, crochet and fish. She and her sister, Betty, sang together at many local functions. Mary was a member of the American Legion Post #102 at Geraldine and the V. F. W. #3917.
Mary is survived by four children; Kenny Ray and family of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Penny Ross and husband Delbert of Enid; Fran Swensgard and family of Billings, Montana, and Judy Holmquist and family of Colville, Washington; one daughter - in - law, Norma Vegoren and family of Enid; two sisters, Betty Atchinson of Geraldine, Montana, and Margaret Steffen of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren; seven great - grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth; one son, David; one brother, Dick; and her parents.
