Otis Clay Vaughan

June 21, 1937 ~ November 21, 2000

Vici - The funeral for Otis Clay Vaughan, 63, was Saturday at Shaw Funeral Home Chapel.

He was born June 21, 1937, south of Harmon to Rupy and Romaine Smith Vaughan and died Monday, November 21, 2000, at Woodward Hospital and Health Center.

He moved as a child with family to Vici and graduated from Vici high school in 1956. He attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Weatherford, two years before enlisting in the Air Force. He was honorably discharged for medical reasons.

On September 3, 1960, he married Caroline Dechaine at Woodward. He joined a seismograph company which took him throughout the country. In 1967, he took a job helping lay gas pipelines in Vici. He later began a career of upholstery with Sequoia Furniture Company, Oklahoma City. For seven years, he helped the company open several factories. In 1974, he moved to Vici and started his own upholstery business.

He was a member of Vici Church of the Nazarene and served as Sunday school superintendent. He was a charter member of Vici Lions Club and was an honored representative of Vici Lions at numerous regional and state club activities. He was a member of the Vici town Board of Trustees and was Vici Mayor. He also was a bus driver for Vici school band and sports activities and served as score keeper at high school basketball games.

Surviving are his wife, Caroline of the home; three daughters, Larissa Sims of Enid, Machelle Egel of Loveland, Colorado, and Christi Meismer of Moab, Utah; two sons, Alan of Alva and Eugene of Germantown, Maryland; one sister, Jean Shaw of Vici; two brothers, Delbert and Norman; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
