Jerry Lewis Vaughan, 65, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2016 in Marshall, Texas.
Jerry was born March 10, 1951 in Coffeyville, Kansas to Robert Lee and Freda Marie Carter Vaughan. He received his Bachelors Degree from Bartlesville Wesleyan College and was a supervisor for Phillips Petroleum Company for over 30 years before retiring in 2011.
Jerry had been a rancher all his life and was a cowboy in every sense of the word. He loved the "cowboy way" including making leather chaps and spurs and had an impressive collection of spurs. His ranch, Carter-Vaughan, along with his grandchildren and family, was the great love of his life. Jerry attended River Crossing Cowboy Church and enjoyed giving back to his church. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Freda Vaughan; grandparents, Tom and Veva Carter; grandmother, Ermyl Dillon; aunts, Rosa Carter and Betty Carter. He is survived by his daughters, Shelly Sellers (Pete) and Jana Johnson (Alex); grandchildren, Jessy Sellers, Gabby Sellers, Gracy Sellers and Cole Sellers; brother, Tom Vaughan (Yvonne); sister, Karen Dutro (John); nephews, Darren Vaughan, Joe Vaughan, and Sam Dutro; special friends, Marcia Miller and George and Linda Cowan; and his dearly beloved cat, Happy.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Heartsway Hospice for their loving care and kindness shown to Jerry.
