No service is planned for Kay Lynn Van Hauen, 60, of Sanger, Texas.
She was born April 18, 1955, in Enid, Okla., to Dorothy Hildebrandt and Stephen Van Hauen and died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Senior Care in Denton, Texas.
Kay graduated from Enid High School in 1973, and moved to Texas in the late 1980s, where she owned and operated KC's Lounge in Denton until 1989.
She earned her bachelor's degree in sociology from Texas Woman's University in 1996.
She moved to Sanger in 1995, and there she co-owned Art Deco Con, a stained concrete company, with her husband Steve. Kay also was into political activism and continued to be involved with it even after she declined in health.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband of over 20 years, Steven Parrott.
She is survived by her sons, Christopher Lane of Enid, and Matthew Lane and wife Toni of Dover, Okla.; daughter, KayCee Parrott of Denton; sister, Betty Cox of Enid; brothers, Stephen Van Hauen Jr. of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jack Van Hauen of Keller, Texas; and her grandchildren, Memory and Illyana Lane. She will also be missed by the family pets, two Labradors and three cats, and especially by her cat, Smokey.
The family would like to thank the people at Senior Care of Denton, Hospice Plus and close friends for their love and support, particularly within the last few weeks.
