David Lee Tweedy, a resident of Centerton, Arkansas, was born November 17, 1939 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, son of Roscoe L. and Wilma (Maples) Tweedy. He departed this life with his family by his side, Thursday, September 22, 2016 in Rogers, Arkansas, at the age of 76 years.
In 1958 David graduated from College High School in Bartlesville. After graduation he enlisted into the United States Army and joined Company C, 83rd Engineering Battalion in La Rochelle, France. After leaving the Army in 1961, David returned to his parent's home in Huntsville, Arkansas. It was there that he met Juanita Mae McCarty in a strawberry patch and they were married on March 9, 1962.
In 1969 David and Juanita adopted their son, Jerry and moved to Berryville where they resided until 2013 when they moved to Texas and later Oklahoma before finally settling in Centerton, Arkansas. David was a loving husband and an active participant in his son's life, never missing any event. He was an ice cream fanatic who also would never drive past a McDonald's without stopping and grabbing a cup of coffee. He enjoyed hanging out at the park feeding the ducks and watching the birds. Most important of all, David was committed to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His remembered by his family as a committed Christian, husband and father who never hesitated to sacrifice his needs and desires for his family.
His wife, Juanita Mae (McCarty) Tweedy survives him of their home. He is also survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Stefanie Tweedy of Centerton, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Cameron, Mackenzie and Kendall; two brothers, Ross Tweedy and wife, Ellen of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Bob Tweedy of Nowata, Oklahoma; several nieces, nephews, a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roscoe L. and Wilma (Maples) Tweedy.
Visitation was 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 26, 2016 at the Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel, Berryville, Arkansas. Graveside service and interment was at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at the Berryville Memorial Park Cemetery, Berryville, Arkansas with Pastor Mark Bryant Officiating.
