LuAnn (Bayless) Tucker

LuAnn (Bayless) Tucker
July 17, 1958 ~ April 17, 2020

LuAnn Bayless Tucker passed away on April 17, 2020 at the age of 61 after a courageous eight year battle with cancer. She was born on July 21, 1958 to John Bayless and Levita Anderson and grew up in Oklahoma City, graduating from Northwest Classen High School. She went on to study Education at the University of Oklahoma and the University of Central Oklahoma and achieve her Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Her devotion to her family began in 1993 with her marriage to Mike Tucker. Together they have two children, Lane Tucker (23) and Grace Tucker (22).

She expressed her passion for serving others through a long teaching career in both the Mid Del and Edmond Public School Districts. As the Edmond Santa Fe High School’s Special Education Department Head from the school’s opening in 1993 until her retirement in 2015, she engineered miracles on a weekly basis and positively impacted numerous students’ lives.

In addition to being a respected teacher, LuAnn was a treasured wife, mother and friend. She is survived by her husband, Mike Tucker, her children, Grace Tucker of Norman and Lane Tucker of Oklahoma City, her brothers Rick Bayless and Skip Bayless and countless friends. She is preceded in death by her father John Bayless, her mother Levita Anderson and her step-father “Andy” Anderson.

LuAnn defined determination, as shown through her tireless fight with cancer and unwavering commitment to her students. Her energetic character, and empathetic heart were contagious and touched all who knew her. She loved laughing with her friends, sharing her cooking talent with others, rescuing animals and cheering on her kids. She will be greatly missed.

We will properly honor LuAnn with a celebration of life in the coming summer months. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Camp Kesem at https://donate.kesem.org/team/251229.
