Richard Wayne Triplett

July 25, 1946 ~ April 28, 2020

Richard Wayne Triplett, son of Arvin and Nora (Wreath) Triplett, was born on July 25, 1946 in Amarillo, TX. He departed this life on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at his home near Mutual. He was 73 years of age.

Richard grew up in the Amarillo and Canyon, TX area where he graduated high school. On July 24, 1967, Richard enlisted in the United States Army where he served during the Vietnam War, earning numerous decorations and citations including the Bronze Star Medal, for a service member who distinguishes himself or herself by heroic or meritorious achievement or service. For those who receive the Bronze Star Medal, it is a signal of their sacrifice, bravery and honor while serving their country. Richard was honorably discharged at a Specialist-5 in February of 1970. In 1973, he came to the Mutual Area to farm, and also worked as a welder and builder.

He was united in marriage to Georgia Lynn (Bowersox) Triplett on June 23, 1984 at the Mutual Christian Church. They attended the Mutual Christian Church, and Richard was also active in the VFW, American Legion, DVA, and was a lifetime member of the NRA.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Georgia; parents, Arvin and Nora Triplett; and brothers, Don Triplett and Charles Triplett.

He is survived by his sons Brian Triplett of Amarillo, TX and Timothy Legg of Mutual, OK; daughter Samantha Legg of West Virginia, “adopted” daughter, Michelle Day; brother Bill Triplett of Canyon, TX; seven grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial Services for Richard Triplett will be held at 2:00 on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at the Redinger Funeral Home Chapel.
