Cara was known as Cara Schenk in her professional career prior to her marriage to Tom Tremper. She was born in Kingfisher, OK, on May 10, 1934 and passed away on April 20, 2007 at Harvest Moon Alzheimer's Care Facility in Murrieta, CA. She was the daughter of William and Frances Marsh and had two sisters. Sue and Jan.
She is survived by her husband Tom of Sun City, CA; her son and daughter in-law Mark Schenk and Tammy Taylor of Chickasha, OK; and her step-children in the area o fHuntington Beach, CA, Mike Tremper, Ellen Clark, and Ann Gibson. Cara and Tom have ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren in California and Texas. She was predecesed by her daughter Jana.
Cara was granted a Bachelor of Science degree from the Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts, and a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Oklahoma. She held various positions in her field with the Veterans Administration in Oklahoma and with St. John's Hospital in Santa Monica, CA, where she held positions as Psychiatric Social Worker and later as Director of the Chemical Dependency Center. After her retirement she had a private practice specializing in family issues and chemical dependency. She enjoyed playing tennis, writing poetry, playing the piano and organ, and above all, helping people. She will be greatly missed.
Memorial services will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Sun City, CA on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 12:00pm. An additional memorial will be held for family members and friends in Chickasha, OK on Saturday, May 5, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. at Southern Hills Baptist Church. It is suggested that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association in lieu of flowers.
