Mary "Jo" Jody Trayler, age 66, of Mangum, passed away late Wednesday evening, June 6, 2012, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Trayler was born in Rankin, Texas on November 9, 1945, to Gilbert and Alice (Jennings) Riddle. Growing up in Rankin, she graduated from high school and married Charles Avery and they lived in several different locations with his job. After a divorce, Jody moved to New Braunfels, Texas where she married Cleatus Trayler on November 17, 1993. In 1998, they moved back to Mangum and Jody was employed at Red River Federal Credit Union, in Altus, for several years. After her retirement, Jody enjoyed spending her time gardening and spoiling her grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her father and a sister Suzy Smith, she is survived by her mother, Alice Kirkendall of California; two children, Thressa Owens and husband Chris of Brady, Texas and Duane Avery and wife Shelly of Elk City; two step children, Mark Trayler and wife Katrina of Altus and Melanie Atkins of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren, Whitney Owens-Nickerson and husband Chad, Casey Owens, Cheyenne Trayler, Josh Atkins, Bryan Trayler and wife Lauren, Tonya Gonzales and husband Brian, Autumn Cambra and husband Chris, Alyssa Atchley and husband Paden and Trey Piper; four great grandchildren, Vivian Gonzales, Holdon Cambra, Lilly Piper and Serenity Atchley along with many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Jody Trayler will be at 3 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2012, at Greer Funeral Home Chapel.
