Barbara Marie Trahern, 83, died February 28, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The daughter of Russell & Mary Jane Clinesmith, she was born February 9, 1937, in Rolla, KS. She grew up and graduated from high school in Pratt, KS, and also went to Nursing School for a short time, but quit to get married.
Barbara and Delbert Trahern, were married June 17, 1956, in Pratt, KS. They were the parents of four sons, Darwin, Kirby, Trent, and Douglas.
Her greatest accomplishment and interest, was her family. Raising the four boys on a farm in Turpin, OK was a big job! She was always by Delbert’s side, making sure everything was in place and taken care of. She made beautiful quilts by hand. She also enjoyed making baby blankets, homemade bread and noodles, and homemade candy and caramel popcorn for the holidays. She was a beautiful piano player. It was important that her four sons sang quartet music together for church. She would always accompany them. She also loved fishing and gardening. While on the farm she would plant over 100 tomato plants to harvest and can. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for over 20 years. She loved helping children read and even volunteered in Nowata Elementary until her health declined.
Delbert and Barbara lived on the farm in Turpin, OK for 42 years. In 2012 they moved to Nowata, OK to be closer to their children. Soon after moving to Nowata, they started attending the First Church of God in Nowata and enjoyed it very much. It was important to her to have and be active in a church home.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Roger Clinesmith. She is survived by her husband, Delbert Trahern, Nowata. Sons & daughter in laws, Darwin & Barb Trahern Venetia, PA, Kirby & Margaret Trahern Owasso, OK, Trent & Betsy Trahern Independence, MO, Douglas & Marla Trahern, Independence, Mo, and one brother, Ted Clinesmith, Claflin, KS. She also had 9 grandchildren and soon to be nine great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to either the First Church of God in Nowata, OK or Grace Hospice in Tulsa, OK.
