Ellen "Nellie" Trace, age 97, passed away Friday, July 27, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma. Nellie was born January 18, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Catherine (McGuire) Rohan.
Ellen attended St. Nicholas Commercial High School in Brooklyn, New York. She married Raymond L. Trace on June 7, 1938 in New York. They raised two children, Ellen and Raymond.
Ellen was a sweet mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. She crocheted baby hats and blankets as a member of RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program). Ellen was one of the original tenants at Rose Rock Villa Senior Apartments.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; husband Raymond on September 21,1974; son Raymond George on December 8, 2011; two sisters Winifred Whalley and Catherine Dorfer.
Survivors include her daughter Ellen Menor and husband Richard of Norman; daughter-in-law Margaret Trace of Albuquerque, New Mexico; four grandchildren Andrew Trace and his wife Mary of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Colin Trace and his wife Isabelle of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Maureen Trace-Hopkins and her husband Paul of San Antonio, Texas, Bryan Menor and his wife Ann of Oklahoma, Oklahoma; three great grandchildren Kiera Menor, Brennan Menor and Jack Hopkins.
Visitation will begin at 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at Havenbrook Funeral Home, Norman, Oklahoma. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012 at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 3939 West Tecumseh Road, Norman, Oklahoma. Arrangements for Ellen and her family were placed in the care of the Vice family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
