Mary Frances (Downs) Townson

Sept. 30, 1936 ~ Feb. 16, 2006

Visitation for Mary Frances Townson will be held at Basham Funeral Care (2212 Niles Street) on Wednesday, February 22, 2006 from 11:00 - 1:00 p.m. with graveside services held at Hillcrest Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m.

Mary was born September 30, 1936 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and she passed away February 16, 2006 in Tehachapi, California.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Patrick Townson; parents, Robert and Laura Downs; sister, Iona Scott; brother, Robert Downs, Jr. and sister, Sue Nell Downs.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Trey Roper; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and John McCormick; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jim Honeycutt; grandchidren, Joshua and Tori McCormick, Daniel Joseph Roper, Alex and Kristin Honeycutt; great granddaughter, Sloane Annabelle McCormick; brother, Jim Downs; sister-in-law, Hazel Miller, Iva Helm and Rachel Ritchie; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Manny Clark, George and Dianne Townson and Dorsey and Carolyn Townson; adopted sister, Mary McCormick; step sister, Mary Brents as well as many other family members and friends.

It was a day of rejoicing in Heaven when Mary was called home. The pain and suffering was over and the burdens of chronic illness lifted.

Mary was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and sister. Always unselfish and generous with her family and friends, she worked alongside her husband Joe throughout their 50 years of marriage in various business ventures including the management of the Tehachapi Airport facility for 20 years and Townco Lumber Yard & Hardware in Mojave, California.

She adored her family and she worked tirelessly to provide a home sweet home. She was the perfect example of what a woman should be.

Your memory lived within us
Time can never erase our love for you
Till we meet again
