Violet G. (Herzberg) Townsley

July 5, 1909 ~ January 27, 1990

Violet G. Herzberg Townsley, 80, of Lowell, died Saturday, January 27, 1990 at St. Mary-Rogers Memorial Hospital.

Born July 5, 1909 at Morganville, Kansas, to Karl Herzberg and Anna Granell Herzberg, she moved here with her family from western Oklahoma in 1938.

She was well known for her quilting, and had one of her handmade quilts on every continent.

She was a charter member of United Pentecostal Church of Rogers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Townsley in 1978.

Survivors are two sons, Leonard D. Townsley of Rogers; and John P. Townsley of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three daughters, Dorothy Townsley Scott of Haynesville, Louisana; Joyce Townsley Daigle of Waldo; and Ruth Townsley Spurgeon of Skiatook, Oklahoma; a sister, Florence Douglas of Cheyenne, Oklahoma; seventeen grandchildren; and twenty great grandchildren.

Funeral is set for 2:00 p.m. today at United Pentecostal Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Norman Hamby and the Rev. Terry Erwin officiating.

Burial is to be in Rogers Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Pallbearers were Johnny Scott, Randy Scott, Jim Daigle, Ray Daigle, Ricky Spurgeon, Gary Townsley, Danny Townsley and Kenny Townsley.
