Our beloved mother, Sharon K. Townsend, 84, passed away December 10, 2021, in St. Petersburg, FL.
Sharon Kay Mills was born March 13, 1937, in Kinsley, Kansas, to Milda and Glenn Mills.
Sharon graduated from Mulvane High School in 1955. She married Wendell Davis soon after graduating and had three daughters, Linda, Dana and Rita.
She worked as a telephone operator in Wichita, KS, and was an inspector at Boeing in the 60's. Upon moving to Enid, Oklahoma, in the early 70's she went to work at George E. Failing Co., where she was the first woman to work in the plant, leading the way for other women over time. She loved hard work!! In 1974 she married Bert Patton. After retirement and his passing, she later moved to Caldwell, KS, then Dallas, Texas, where she met and married retired Col. Donley Townsend. After several years of living in Dallas, she moved to St.Petersburg, FL, in 2021.
Our mom had quite a sense of humor as did her brother, Dean. She loved her family, her friends, all animals, reading, and trying out new restaurants.
Sharon was predeceased by her parents Milda and Harry McMillen and Glenn Mills; husbands Bert Patton and Donley Townsend; step-sons Dan Patton and Lance Patton; and recently her brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Dorothy Mills.
She is now wholeheartedly missed by her daughters, Linda Davis of St. Petersburg, FL; Dana Davis of Caldwell, KS; and Rita Davis of St.Petersburg, FL. She also leaves behind grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew and dear friends.
