Mary Lee Toney

Mary Lee Toney
December 13, 1952 ~ March 3, 2021

Mary Lee Toney, 68, of Blackwell, passed away on March 3, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born December 13, 1952, El Dorado, Ks. to parents, Lee Lloyd and Lenora (Brown) Toney. She attended Flinthills HS, graduating in 1970. She immediately began her love for cosmetology at the Ponca City Beauty College. She continued in the business until retiring in 2020. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Blackwell, 301 W Blackwell Ave, Blackwell, OK 74631.

After retirement, Mary enjoyed short road trips and dining at quaint places off the beaten path. She lived an exceptional life for Jesus and loved worshipping with her church family and volunteering every chance she was given. Mary served many years as a board member for Blackwell First Assembly of God. She treasured any opportunity to get together with family. She cared deeply for each of her “ladies”, they were more than just customers. Mary loved watching musicals and a hearty dose of The Weather Channel, and for the past several years….a mean game of Bejewelled.

Mary was never married or had children, but she absolutely adored every niece and nephew as though they were her own. She proudly wore the title of Nanny Mary. She let them eat ice cream for breakfast, taught the boys to spike their hair, so they’d look cool and always allowed them to stay up as late as they wanted. She even allowed a few frogs and lizards to come inside until one lizard escaped and was never found. Mary was preceded in death by both parents, her infant sisters, Deloris and Maudina Toney. Her oldest sister, Judy Harman and little brother Danny Jo Toney, Brother in laws-Larry Shuyler and Gerald Harman, Sister in laws-Julie Toney and Lois Meeker, Nephews-Mike Thompson and Parker Lanning, Niece-Heather Gail Harman and her Bonus Mom-Berniece Finch.

Mary is survived by her sister-Anna Shuyler of the home, brother- Lee Lloyd Toney II (Cherryvale, Ks) and her twin brother, Isaac Toney (Ponca City). Nieces/Nephews-Gerald and Susan Harman, Helene and RJ Warren, Charley Day, Jimmy and Michelle Lanning, Jeremy and Stephanie Harman, Gary Harman, Elizabeth Shuyler, Hannah Toney, Danielle Glass, Rachell Beard, Lee Toney III, Derick and Bethany Toney, Hank and Amy Toney, Vanessa, Randy Toney, Angela Toney Great Nieces/Nephews--Ashley, Kendall, Faith, Michael, Cindy, Jordan, Dalton and Raven, Carrigan, Sciden, Peyton, Emery, Gabriel, Ezekiel, Jessica and James Langley, Jacob Thompson and wife to be Kate Murphy, Emmy.
