Brenton (Brent) Todd passed suddenly of organ failure on March 20, 2023, at his ranch home in Niotaze, KS, with his wife Barbara by his side.
Brent was born in Borger, TX, on February 23, 1961, to Jim and Winetta Todd. He and his family moved to Bartlesville, OK, in 1964 where he attended school, graduating from Sooner High School in 1979. He and Barbara met in high school and went to the Fall Homecoming Dance together in 1977 and so began their love story. While attending Oklahoma State University, Brent and Barbara married on August 22, 1982. Brent ventured into the restaurant business as owner and operator of “Al’s Chicago Style Dog and Spuds” and manager of “Domino’s Pizza”. Life took them from Stillwater to Tulsa to Odessa, TX, and Seneca, SC, where he graduated from Clemson in 1990 with a BS in Accounting.
In 1994, Brent and Barbara purchased a ranch near Niotaze, KS, and moved into their happy place. Brent and Barbara welcomed James, Katherine, and Rye, into the joys of life on the ranch. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and working with animals. He was a stay-at-home dad including often being “Home Room Mom” for his children. Brent enjoyed hosting EPIC Fourth of July celebrations with food, family, friends, and fireworks. He was quick to engage people, especially those he did not know. He loved to make people laugh. He was always there for the programs his children were involved in at the Caney, KS, school system. When it was time to sell 50/50 tickets to support the After Prom at Caney High School, it was impossible to say no to Brent! One of Brent’s favorite places to vacation was at Branson and Silver Dollar City. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, and big, long laughs with friends.
He is survived by his wife Barbara (Brooks) Todd; children Katherine Todd of Kansas and Rylee Todd of Kansas; father James and stepmother Kaaren (Ward) Todd of Oklahoma; sister Tammy (Todd) Fincher of Texas; father-in-law James N. and his wife Susan Brooks; and sister-in-law Nancy Brooks.
He was preceded in death by his mother Winetta (Quaid) Todd; his son James Casey Todd; and mother-in-law June C. (Kurtz) Brooks.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 11:00 am, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 210 E. 9th St. Bartlesville, OK 74003.
Services are entrusted to Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
