Carol Louise (Smullin) Tierney, age 86, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2016 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Carol was born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 18, 1930, to George and Louise (Schroeder) Smullin. After graduating from Rosedale High School in 1948, she met and married Robert D. Tierney in 1949. In 1953, Phillips Petroleum Company relocated the family to Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Carol was a homemaker and found great joy in working with young people. She worked at the YWCA, volunteered with the Boy and Girl Scouts, and was a homeroom mother and PTA leader for her three children.
After her divorce, Carol went to work at Montgomery Wards, Vandevers and H & G Pharmacy. She purchased her dream home in Woodland Park after retirement so she could enjoy the wildlife and continue her passion for gardening. She was fortunate to have a group of friends that met twice a month for over 50+ years to play bridge and traveled with several of them to Alaska, Hawaii and Greece.
She was happiest when watching wildlife from her recliner in front of the fireplace with chocolates and her cat.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law Travis Honeycutt. She is survived by her sister, Jean Prinds; her three children, Kathy (Brad) Cain, Steve (Mary) Tierney, and Janet Honeycutt; four grandchildren, Kristina (Henry) Kanarek, Jessica (Joel) King, Kelly Tierney, and Wesley Honeycutt; four great grandchildren: Ethan, Grace, Oliver and Melody; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will celebrate her life at a later date and cremation arrangements were under the direction of the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. In lieu of flowers, Carol suggested friends donate to their local SPCA. Online condolences may be left at www.stumpff.org.
