Marion "Buster" Tidwell

Dec. 28, 1922 ~ July 26, 2002

DIMMITT - Marion "Buster" Tidwell, 79, died Friday, July 26, 2002.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Howard Rhodes officiating. Burial will be at 1:15 p.m. in Castro Memorial Gardens by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home.

Mr. Tidwell was born Dec. 28, 1922, in Haskell. He married Maxine Winters on Oct. 5, 1946, in Littlefield. He grew up in Beula and graduated from Beula High School in 1941.

He joined the Army Air Corps and served in the South Pacific. He was part of the first wave that went in to occupy Japan. After serving his country, he returned and farmed for 12 years.

He then began to work in agriculture aviation. He retired in 1994. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He served on the Dimmitt Chamber of Commerce and many other civic boards.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Rhoda Wise and husband, Gary, of Frisco; two brothers, G.W. Tidwell of Ureka, Calif., and Carl Tidwell of Loop; four sisters, Mary Harmon of Rocklin, Calif., Betty Sanders of Hart, June Elliot of Rosenberg and Glenda Miller of Lubbock; and four granddaughters, Holly Davis and husband, Chad, of Dimmitt, Heather Wise of Lubbock and Hayli Wise and Hanna Wise, both of Frisco.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Dimmitt or Hospice Cares of Dimmitt.
