DELMAR - Patricia Ann (Hart) Throckmorton, 74, of Delmar, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. She was born February 8, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas.
She was the daughter of the late Raymond Hart, who died during World War II when Pat was a very young girl, and Luella Chermack Hart Simunek and also her step-father, Frank J. Simunek, who helped raise her.
Pat grew up on a Centennial Farm and graduated from Oklahoma State University where she majored in English and Library Science and with a minor in Spanish. She retired after many years of service as an English Teacher and Media Specialist from Delmar Junior-Senior High School and truly loved serving the students and the Delmar community.
She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and as a selfless, kindhearted wife, mother and grandmother. Pat was always involved with her children's education and taught them to make the most out of life. She loved playing cards and family game nights, playing the piano and singing, butterflies, art, nature and was proud of her angel collection.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary Lee Throckmorton, to whom she married on August 21,1964 in Stillwater, Oklahoma on the campus of OSU; sons, Brian Throckmorton and wife, Suzanne, and their daughter, Luchella and Christopher Throckmorton and wife, Bonita and their children, Aldan, Emma, Jude and Nikki; daughter, Jennifer Throckmorton; and a brother, Larry Simunek and wife, Alice. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. In addtion to her parents, she was preceded in death by in-laws, Gerald L. and Lucy A. Throckmorton.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove Street in Delmar. A funeral service will begin at 7:00 p.m. In memory of Mrs. Throckmorton, contributions may be sent to St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital by visiting www.stjude.org.
