In loving memory of Owen Thornton, III, who passed away on March 7, 2025 at the age of 19 years old. Owen was born to Pamela and Owen Thornton, Jr. on June 13, 2005 in Tulsa, OK. He grew up in Cleveland, OK as the youngest of three children, making him a beloved son and little brother. After he graduated from Cleveland High School in 2023, he moved to Norman, OK with his best friend. While in Norman, he made many cherished memories, playing guitar and video games, and hanging out with his closest friends.
Owen was incredibly kind hearted, humorous, and easy-going. These traits are evident through the many memories and experiences shared by the people who love him, such as the dozens of heartfelt sticky notes he left on his mother's desk, or the toy snake he'd hide in the sheets just before bedtime. His sweet heart persistently found its way into every second spent playing with his sisters, and even years later, he could never enter a sister's room without asking for a piece of candy. There are many ways that Owen will be remembered, but most of all, his soul is best expressed through his passion for music. In 2019, Owen received his first guitar, an Epiphone Les Paul. His dad promised that if he took it seriously and learned how to play it well, he'd buy him a Gibson Les Paul. "The smile that he gave me had told me to start saving my money." Once the guitar was in his hands, he couldn't put it down. Needless to say, he received his Gibson Les Paul in 2021.
Owen could connect with anybody through music, by playing his favorite tracks, teaching a friend, or even through conversation. Music was Owen's way of connecting with the world, with those who inspired him, and with the people he loved. It's no secret that he could pick up a guitar and play just about any song, but not before playfully asking, "Got any requests?"
Owen's love of music is a testament to his compassionate heart and loving soul, so when you hear a good song, or even just the strum of a guitar, let it touch your heart and celebrate the memory of our dearest son, brother, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his Mema, Margaret Eddings, and his granddad, Owen Thornton, Sr.. Survivors include his parents, Pamela and Owen Thornton, Jr., his sisters, Emily and Ila Thornton, his grandma, Goldie Thornton, his grandma, Sherryl Thornton, his Papa, Wayne Eddings, and his nephew, Everest Jennings.
