Danny Gibson Thomsen

Danny Gibson Thomsen
September 17, 1942 ~ December 5, 2021 (age 79)

Dan Gibson Thomsen went to be with his Lord, Sunday December 5, 2021 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City with his family by his side. Dan was born September 17, 1942 to George Washington Gibson and Mary Esther (Bryant) Gibson in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Dan was raised on a farm in rural Lincoln County, southwest of Chandler. Dan was one of six children born to George and Mary: Mary Kay, George Wes, Dan and Deana (twins), Milly and Lily (twins). The family moved to Nevada for awhile as his dad worked for the railroad. Dan eventually came back to Oklahoma, where he graduated from Chandler High School in 1963.

Dan then learned how to drive a semi-truck and loved it, so he spent the next 47 years driving cross country. While home on the 4th of July, he met Angela Treat and on the 24th of August 1980 they were married. From this union two daughters were born, Stephanie and Rebecca. They made their home in Chandler, joined the Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston and attended faithfully ever since. They were happily married 41 years. Dan often told stories of his travels in the truck. He had been to every state in the continental US plus Mexico and Canada. He often stopped in Idaho, where his parents and siblings had settled. He loved his nieces and nephews very much. He retired in 2011, but it was hard to keep him down. He took his family on many trips to Idaho, where they enjoyed camping in the mountains, fishing in the rivers at camp, taking 4-wheeler rides with Angie way up in the mountains with the elk, bears and a couple moose.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters. He is survived by his wife Angie of the home; daughters, Stephanie Hatton and her husband Brian, Rebecca Woodside and her husband Michael of Edmond; one sister, Mary Kay and Max Martin of Blackfoot, Idaho; (7) grandchildren - Zachary, Logan and Clayton Hatton and Ethan, Joshua, Jackson and Daniel Woodside of Edmond; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 9th at 2 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church in Wellston.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston, OK.
