Robert David Thompson

Jan. 27, 1951 ~ Aug. 26, 2015

Funeral for Robert David Thompson, 64, Enid, Okla., will be 10 a.m. today, Aug. 31, 2015, at World Harvest Church, with the Rev. Mike Sturgeon officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army. Service is under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.

Robert was born Jan. 27, 1951, in Hays, Kan., the son of Robert and Patricia McMenamy Thompson and passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2015, at his residence.

Robert faithfully served his country in the United States Army from 1970-1976 and, later, served in both the Army Reserves and the National Guard from 1982-1987.

Robert married Cheri Hawkins on Jan. 5, 1979. To this union, three children were born: Luke, Sarah and Jessica.

Robert was employed full-time with Northern Oklahoma College and part-time at Enid News & Eagle at the time of his passing.

Robert was a member of World Harvest Church, where he served as an usher and was active in Mighty Men. He also was very active with the Coaches Outreach Ministry. He spent 25 years coaching youth football. Robert had a true passion for the game and a true love for his players, while providing a strong Christian witness to them.

Robert is survived by his wife, Cheri of the residence; son, Luke and wife Melissa of Mooreland, Okla.; daughters, Sarah of Enid and Jessica Flores and husband Mario of Enid; grandchildren, Allison, Lakelynn and Gehrig Thompson, Liam, Caitlin and Cruz Flores; sister, Constance Thompson of Buford, S.C.; brother, James Michael Thompson of Fort Wayne, Ind.
