A memorial service for Phillip R. Thompson Sr., 65, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at First Baptist Church, Wakita. Arrange-ments are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematory. There will be no visitation or viewing at the funeral home.
He was born Aug. 27, 1940, in Birmingham, Ala., to Paul Woodrow and Lillie Wilson Thompson and died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, in Enid.
He grew up in Alabama and worked as a computer programmer for United Steel. He worked in the bookkeeping department in a New Orleans bank before moving to Wakita. He worked for Wakita Foodland as a clerk, stocker and butcher and was a farmer.
He married Iris Norene Morland July 27, 1989, in Wakita where they made their home. They moved to Enid in 2002. He worked for Kmart as a stocker and cashier before retiring. He was a member of Wakita Baptist Church from 1989 to 2002, where he taught Sunday school and was a leader of Brotherhood. They moved to Enid where he joined Calvary Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Norene, of the home; two sons; three stepsons, Ciele McDowell of Colorado Springs, Colo., Robby Morland of Wakita, and Steve Willson of Kingfisher; one stepdaughter, Iris Tune of Enid; two sisters, Geraldine Stuart and Wanda Barker, both of Clearwater, Fla.; two brothers, Mike Thompson of Southgate, Mich., and Allen Thompson of Santa Fe, N.M.; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the funeral home or First Baptist Church of Wakita.
