Irene (Noel) Thompson
September 26, 1915 ~ February 27, 2014

Irene Noel Thompson, a resident of Durant, Oklahoma and dedicated servant of her Lord and Savior passed from this life into the next in Durant, Oklahoma on Thursday, February 27, 2014 at the age of 98 years, 5 months and 1 day.

She was born in Bowie, Texas on Sunday, September 26, 1915 to Amos Thomas and Ollie Mary Roberts Noel.

She married Robert H. Thompson in Bowie, Texas on Saturday, January 21, 1950.

Irene was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Durant, Oklahoma and very active in the WMU and other church activities.

She happily committed her life to caring for her family and home. Irene loved to spend time quilting and sewing.

She liked to stay active by bowling with her friends and attending her Garden Clubs.

Mrs. Thompson is survived in death by her son, Ronald Thomas and wife Colleen of Coleman, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sherry Moore and husband Rick of Atoka, Oklahoma, Steve Thomas and wife Billie of Edmond, Oklahoma, Rhonda Southerland of Coleman, Oklahoma and Lisa Fredrick of Dallas, Texas; ten great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and son-in-law, James Ray Jackson.

Mrs. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Ollie Noel; husband, Robert H. Thompson; brother, Elvis Noel; sisters, Mabel Pool and Velda Echols; daughter, Sue Jackson; granddaughter, Debbie VanBlarcum.

A funeral services in honor of her memory will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at the Holmes Coffey Murray Chapel in Durant, Oklahoma with Rev. Trey Hedrick officiating.

Interment will be on Tuesday March 4 at Elmwood Cemetery in Bowie, Texas.
