Dianne Kathleen (Neyland) Thompson

Dianne Kathleen (Neyland) Thompson
March 25, 1942 ~ February 12, 2020

Dianne Kathleen Thompson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on February 12, 2020, surrounded by family. She was born on March 25, 1942, in Los Angeles, California to Harlan and Kathleen Neyland. She attended Webster Junior High and graduated from Classen High School. She married Jerry D. Thompson, Sr. and they became parents of a much beloved son, Jerry D. Thompson, Jr.

Dianne worked 30 years at the Federal Aviation Administration, becoming a respected and admired employee. She worked as librarian, editor and writer. She trained and mentored many technical editors and writers and worked closely with engineers. Dianne retired in 2014 but graciously continued contributing part-time until October of 2018.

Dianne’s great love was for her family. She took an interest in all family news and activities. She loved to travel and visited many places in and outside the US. She helped plan and organize family weddings, bridal and baby showers and family gatherings and was known for baking an exceptional ham. She took cake decorating classes and enjoyed baking cakes for many of these events. Dianne was a doting cat mom to Marble, Maxwell and Mattie. With her love and care, they lived long and contented lives. Dianne was a great shopper and always picked the perfect present for each of us. In the last year of her life she temporarily checked out of the hospital so she could be present for her son’s heart surgery.

Dianne is survived by her son Jerry (Cindy) Thompson and sisters Judith Goodno and Carolyn (Terry) Pargeter. She was known as Aunt D to many and is survived by numerous relatives and friends. Dianne was preceded in death by her parents Harlan and Kathleen; brothers Harlan and Robert Neyland and brother-in-law Russ Goodno.

She is so dearly missed. Our love for her is eternal.

A Celebration of Life will be held on a date yet to be determined. Please check back for updated service information.
