Clairene (Adams) Thompson

Clairene (Adams) Thompson
September 04, 1927 ~ January 17, 2020

Clairene (Adams) Thompson, 92, of Blanchard, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020, in Oklahoma City. The daughter of James Earl and Ophelia Adams, she was born September 4, 1927 in Ada, Oklahoma.

Clairene met Ira Monroe Thompson while they were working at the Chickasha Air Base and they were married on September 26, 1944 in Anadarko. Once they started a family, Clairene devoted her life to being the best mom she could be. After her children were almost grown, she worked many years as a hostess for Furr’s Cafeteria. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting, and loved being outdoors in her garden.

Clairene took her mom responsibilities very serious. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was the glue that held the family together (not just ordinary glue...more like Gorilla Glue). :) She insisted on preparing large meals and having all the family together on all the major holidays...and any other time she could. She was a master chef before we even knew what that meant. In fact, Emeril Lagasse could have learned a few things from her. :) Her greatest enjoyment came from being surrounded by her family. She leaves us with a legacy of love and devotion to family like no other. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ira Monroe Thompson; and infant son, Ira Monroe Thompson, Jr.

Clairene is survived by one daughter, Lyndia Williams, of Blanchard; two sons, Larry Thompson and his wife, Lien, of Blanchard, Michael Thompson and his wife, Tammy, of Blanchard; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother, Joe Lee Adams, of Norman; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, January 21, 2020, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home in Blanchard. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
