Belinda (Tanner) Thomasson

Belinda (Tanner) Thomasson
August 31, 1953 ~ December 31, 2018

Belinda Thomasson was born to Morris Calvin and Lola Grace Metts Tanner on August 2, 1953, in Texarkana, Arkansas. She was one of three siblings, the sister of Jim and Jerry Tanner. The Lord called her home to her eternal reward on Monday morning, December 31, 2018, at 65 years of age.

Belinda loved the Lord and He gave her a full and complete life. She lived most of her younger life in Texarkana, Arkansas, attending public schools there. Belinda married Richard Michael Thomasson on September 11, 1970, moving to Houston, Texas, a year later. It was there that they totally committed their lives to Jesus Christ, and He blessed their union with three beautiful daughters: Amy, Katie and Lori. Belinda's life was further blessed by the addition of four precious grandchildren: Ty, Hudson, Lola and Mavis.

Belinda was a stay at home mom while the girls were young. She later worked in home health, serving as a C.N.A. at different times. After a battle with cancer, Belinda also did interior design work and later worked as the Marketing Director for the Opportunity Center of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Belinda also worked as a cook, and later a sight manager for Wheatheart Nutrition Center in Blackwell and Tonkawa, Oklahoma.

Belinda was a faithful mother, grandmother, pastor's wife, and servant of the Lord. Everyone who really knew Belinda knew that she was fun and fabulous. She was a straight shooter with a dry wit. Belinda loved to laugh, and God used her to encourage others. She never passed an opportunity to see a need and sacrificially gave to meet that need. Belinda often worked behind the scenes for the Lord. She had the gift of hospitality. People were always made welcomed at the Thomasson household, never knowing how many to prepare for at supper. Belinda had a full heart. She was a paraplegic the last eight years of her life from an unexpected spinal cord surgery but is now walking with Jesus in glory!

Survivors include: her husband Richard Thomasson; daughters: Amy Frazier and her husband Jared, Katie Love and her husband Steve, and Lori Matthiesen and her husband Chance; grandchildren, Ty, Hudson, Lola and Mavis Matthiesen; brothers Jim and Jerry Tanner; aunt, Silvia Odom; as well as a host of other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends. Belinda was preceded in death by her parents, Morris and Lola Tanner, both sets of grandparents, and a child she miscarried during the first year of marriage.

A celebration of Belinda's life will be held this Friday at 10:00 a.m., January 4th, 2019, at First Baptist Church, Tonkawa, Oklahoma. Pastor, Donnie Hazlewood will be officiating, under the leadership of Trout Funeral Home.
