Jo Yvette (Boyer) Thomason passed away on March 30, 2022 in Frisco, Texas, at the age of 80, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 29, 1941 in Hominy, Oklahoma. Yvette graduated from Lindsay High School in Lindsay, Oklahoma and received her undergraduate degree from Central State University. Later, she earned her Master’s Degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.
Yvette was a former long-time English teacher at Durant Middle School in Durant, Oklahoma, where she was known for bringing literature to life through her creative teaching methods.
She cherished letters received from former students, who remember her fondly as their favorite teacher and one who made a difference in their lives.
During her time in Durant, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Due to her daughters’ alma mater, Yvette was a passionate Oklahoma State fan and loved attending football and basketball games and cheering for the Cowboys. An avid reader, Yvette also loved preserving and sharing memorabilia of her younger years, her ancestors, and her current family. However, Yvette was happiest when spending time with her family, and she selflessly dedicated her life to her two daughters and her grandchildren. Yvette’s family will miss her enormously.
She was truly a wonderful and lovely person.
Yvette is survived by her two daughters Ashley Stipe, and husband Curtis, of Prosper, Texas and Jennifer Franklin, and husband Tal, of Portland, Maine. Yvette was especially proud of her five grandchildren: Blake Massey, Brooke Chilton, and husband Nathaniel, Ava Franklin, Charlotte Franklin, and Virginia Claire Franklin.
Yvette was a well-known animal lover and was the owner of countless cats throughout her life. Dominic and Pippi, will be adopted by her namesake granddaughter Charlotte Yvette Franklin.
Yvette was preceded in death by her parents, Lynn and Vandetta Boyer and her brother, Lynn (Rusty) Boyer.
There will be a private family memorial service to honor Yvette.
