ENID, OK - Service for John Ross Thomas, 66, of Enid, will be 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Garland Road Baptist Church, with Dr. Greg Hook officiating. Service is under the kind guidance of Amy Stittsworth Funeral Service and Cremation Directors.
John was born April 1, 1948, in Enid, Okla., to Richard E. and Darline Thomas and was the youngest of five boys.
He graduated from Enid High School in 1966.
After serving over seas in the United States Navy from 1967-1971, he moved back to Enid to work at Vance Air Force Base, Speed Star, Conrady Electric and many other jobs in the Enid area. John retired after 26 years as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service, covering several routes in the Enid area.
John was survived by the three best accomplishments in his life � his daughters, Leslie D. Thomas of Norman, Jean E. Anderson of Gaithersburg, Md., and Heather A. Haney of Enid, wife of Steve, and mother of John�s �Best Buddy,� his grandson, Wyatt. John was also survived by three older brothers, Mike and Marsha of Weed, Calif., Pete and Beth of Omaha, Neb., Richard (Dickie) and Lillian of Salem, Ore. Additionally he was survived by his sister-in-law, Claudette of Hamilton, Ohio, and many in-laws from his late wife�s family.
He was preceded, leaving this life by his very tolerant wife of 30 years, Dorothy "Tina,"; his parents, Richard and Darline; his oldest brother, Gene E.; and nephew, Mark.
John also left behind many, many friends, his other "kids," and associates.
John said he met very few people he didn�t like.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the John Thomas Memorial Fund at Bank of The West, Enid Branch preferred. A portion of the funds will be donated to cancer research.
