Grove - Jerry L. Thomas, age 85 of Grove, Oklahoma passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 27, 2022, and was reunited with his beloved wife, Doris. He was born on January 7, 1937, in Richmond, Virginia to Robert and Nova (Tibbets) Thomas. The family moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma here he graduated from College High School. He then proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 4 years.
On March 6, 1981, Jerry married the love of his life, Doris Preston, in Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 24, 2020.
Jerry was self-employed as an owner-operator truck driver of Thomas Trucking for many years. He moved to Grove in 2021 to be near his sister Jo. A strong-willed man, he was also witty, happy and could be a bit ornery at times. He had a smile for everyone he met. His enjoyed the company of his dogs, whom he loved dearly. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, sister Sue and son Danny.
Left to cherish his memory, his two sisters, Jo Eve of Monkey Island, Oklahoma and Ruth Burke of Ft. Worth, Texas, as well as two adored granddaughters.
His body will lie in state at Nichols-Stephens Funeral Service from 9-5pm on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 Thursday, March 3, 2022, at the Thomas Community Cemetery in Bridgeport, Texas.
