Memorial services for Yvonne Thilsted will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 9, 2020, at Marshall Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jay Tyree officiating. She was cremated under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.
Yvonne Lee Thilsted, daughter of the late J.A. "Red" and Carol Alice (Blake) Easter, was born May 12, 1953, at Fort Scott, Kansas, and passed away July 5, 2020, at her home at the age of 67.
Yvonne graduated from Alva High School in 1971. She owned Johnson Insurance Agency. She retired two years ago. She served as president of the Alva Rotary Club. The Alva Chamber of Commerce named her Chamber Woman of the Year in 2009. She served on the Alva Beautification Committee. She was a driving force to replace the old Oklahoma-shaped marquee on the square with a new metal one that featured an LED banner. She was the Woods County representative to the Northwest Oklahoma Economic Development Association.
Yvonne gave dramatic presentations for the Cherokee Strip Museum. She also collected and shipped shoes to Africa for Soles for Souls.
She loved her horses and competed in many equestrian events. She was a member of the College Hill Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Red and Carol Easter.
Yvonne is survived by her brother, Jeff Easter and wife Helen of Alva; two sisters, Nola Hopkins and husband Eddy of Canyon, Texas, and Kimberly Figueroa and husband Michael of Moore; long-time friend Dr. Peter Skoog; and nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the Dove Creek Equine Rescue.
