Robert Jay Thaxton, of Comanche, was born January 27, 1956, in Duncan to Robert "Jim" and Wanda (Eaton) Thaxton. He passed away on July 6, 2020, at his home with his loving wife by his side. He was 64.
Family and friends are invited to the home of Jay and Debra on Saturday, July 11, from 4:00-7:00 P.M. Their home is the first house on the right on the south side of the intersection of Empire Road and Highway 53.
Jay was a 1974 graduate of Duncan High School. He then studied Architecture Technology at Cameron. He was employed as a home and section designer. On December 22, 1979, he married Debra McAlister in Duncan.
He had a construction company in Duncan and built homes in Duncan, Tennessee and Wyoming. He also worked for Raizen Oil Company. He enjoyed target shooting and golfing. He had a passion for raising parrots. He also loved to watch the television program, "How It Was Made."
Jay is survived by his wife, Debra; children: Delania and husband Shayne McFarland of Columbia, TN; Landra Thaxton of Ratliff City; Travis Thaxton of Columbia, TN; grandchildren: Kayleigh McFarland, Rylan McFarland, Rowan McFarland, K'dence Whitaker; brothers: David Thaxton of Mountain View; Luke Thaxton of Duncan; Mark and wife Patti Thaxton of Duncan; sister, Debbie and husband Joe Grissom of Moore; Robbie and husband Leon Hurst of Lawton; step father-in-law, Johnny Nalley; brother-in-law, Randy and spouse Beverly McAlister of Velma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; infant sister, Sharon Thaxton; infant granddaughter, Kendra McFarland; mother-in-law, Dovia Nalley; father-in-law, Bud McAlister; and his favorite dog, "Demon" "Bark-A-Von."
