79 year old Woodward, OK resident passed March 19, 2020.
Joe Ellen Brummett Terry (Jody) was born on August 20, 1940 to C.Y. and Genevene Brummett. She was raised and attended schools in Enid, OK. In 1965 she went to Bass Hospital in Enid, OK. and trained as a nurse’s aide, working there for four years. She was also employed at nursing homes and with the home health organization.
She met and married Clyde Terry and they were married 40 and a half years. They married on August 4, 1972 and put 7 children together. Her four Peggy, Dennis, Tully and Scott and his three Bryan, Steve and Shelia. For a while they lived in Texas then to Leedey, OK. where Clyde worked in the oilfield before settling in Mooreland, OK.
One day she said, “let’s go to Colorado and buy some corn on the cob.” They came home with 300 ears of corn and sold it all in one day at the Woodward Sale Barn. Later they bought a Borden’s milk truck, naming it Big Bertha. Produce was sold out of Big Bertha for 4 years when due to Clyde’s health J’s Produce came to an end.
In 1996 Jody became a substitute teacher for Mooreland High School. She was a sub for 23 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, her son Scott, her mother, Genevene and father CY Brummett, her sister, Beverly Gigoux, brother Jim Brummett, son-in-law Keith Wilson and a grandson, Dalton Wilson.
Jody is survived by her son, Tully Groom of Alva OK., son Dennis Heck and daughter Peggy Heck of Leedey, OK., her grandchildren and great grandchildren. A niece Jamie and husband Monty Baker of Tulsa, OK., a nephew Dan and wife Shelia Gigoux and family of Indio, CA., other relatives and lots of friends.
