February 19, 1964 ~ August 9, 2022 (age 58)

Jody Thomas Taylor, 58, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma former Tulsa, Oklahoma resident passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at his home.

He was born February 19, 1964 to Robert Taylor, Sr. and Patricia (Ambeau) McMillian in Rochester, New York.

Jody grew up in Tulsa, OK and attended Tulsa Public Schools, where he met and married the love of his life, Sheila McMahon in 1984. They moved to the Oklahoma City area 15 years ago, where they lived 3 years in Moore before moving to the Little Axe/Tecumseh area for the last 12 years.

Jody was quite the salesman, working for Payless Shoe Source and Kinney Shoe stores, worked a few years in the steel business before opening J & S Lawncare which he and Sheila owned and operated for 3 years before opening J & S Maintenance for the last 20 years.

Jody enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Loved carpentry building bird houses, rabbit hutches and cages. Jody raised Bob White Quail for years and started Quail’s R Us. Trapped and sold Pigeons to dog trainers. Had a love for Labrador retrievers, he raised and trained a black Lab Babe who won several hunting titles. Jody started Harrah/Newalla Fur & Feather Swap 5 years ago and loved watching it grow. Jody was always a character, never met a stranger, life of the party! He also loved having something to complain about. He always had your back and was generous to those in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his twin brother, Thomas Michael Taylor and brothers, Robert Taylor and Wayne Taylor; and sister, Lynn Cone.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Sheila Taylor of the home; 1 daughter, Amber Taylor of Tulsa, OK; 2 sons, Gary Taylor of Bad Axe, MI and David Taylor of Tecumseh, OK; 12 grandchildren; 3 brothers, George Giesman of Marion, AR, James Taylor Council Bluff, IA and Bill Taylor of Tecumseh, OK; 1 sister, Robin Vinson of Henderson, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends, including his swap family who he loved dearly.

Memorial Service will be 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Clint Dawkins, Sharon Baptist Church officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
