Services for Herbert Allen Taylor, 70, of Chickasha, are scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, at the First Assembly of God in Chickasha. Pastor Paul Knight will officiate.
Taylor was born on Sept. 1, 1936, in Indianapolis to Herbert and Julia Taylor. Herb was the oldest of three children. He grew up in Los Angeles and married Sherrill Hudson on Valentine's Day in 1956; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year.
Son Mike was born in Los Angeles in 1961. He and his wife Angela live in Richmond, VA, and have five children: Brian, Amanda, Robert, Jesse and Kerry Ann.
Herb was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1959 and served in Alaska. They stayed in Alaska 16 years where daughter Kathie was born in 1963. She and her husband, Randy Talley, live in Chickasha. They have four children: Adrian, Hudson, Stalder and Joel.
In 1976, Herb and Sherry moved to Lawton where they both got jobs at Goodyear Tire. During the couple's 21 years in Lawton, Herb joined the staff of Grace Christian Fellowship as an associate pastor and accountant. In 1997, they relocated to Chickasha. Herb invested his time in many young couples through counseling and Bible study. At the time of his death, he was a deacon at the First Assembly of God. Herb also was interested in reading, cooking, motorcycles, USAO women's basketball, and classical music.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents. Hertert and Julia Taylor; and his brother Dennis and sister Becky.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Taylor, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Angela Taylor or Richmond; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathie and Randy Talley of Chickasha; nine grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews.
