Bob Taylor, a resident of Ames, Oklahoma, passed away on February 17, 2025, at the age of 86. Bob was born on February 10, 1939, in Vernon, Texas. He moved to Oklahoma after meeting the love of his life, Doris Taylor. He and Doris were married on October 24,1965, and spent 59 wonderful years together, full of adventures and family gatherings.
Bob proudly served in the United States Army from October 10, 1961, to September 29, 1964. After the Army, Bob worked for Harper-Turner Oil Company and Enid Public Transportation Authority.
Bob’s true passions were his family, as well as farming and caring for his animals. Bob was a hard worker; his hands were never idle, always finding something to repair or improve. He was a leader, determined to do his best for his loved ones, and was known for his honesty and integrity.
He was a master storyteller, known for his humor and practical jokes. Bob's family was his greatest treasure, and he loved sharing his wisdom and life lessons with anyone willing to learn. His fun-loving and witty nature made him a joy to be around.
He was a generous supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and was an active member of the Veterans Affairs and the American Legion.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Lois Taylor, and his brother, Don Taylor. He is survived by wife, Doris Taylor; sisters Mary Kennedy and Nancy Weaver; and children Debra Taylor, Cynthia Taylor, Burt Taylor, Joe Randall, Dan Taylor, and Delbert Randall.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at the Wellness Mercantile in Hennessey, Oklahoma, on March 22, 2025, from 1-4 p.m. Bob Taylor's life was a testament to the values of hard work, love, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Veteran Affairs.
