James Allen Tarver, 78, of Tecumseh, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019 at home.
He was born on July 6, 1941 to Lloyd and Eunice Tarver in Purcell, Oklahoma.
James lived in Purcell until his family moved to Oklahoma City where he attended Jackson Jr. High and Capitol Hill High School. He left school in the 10th grade and enlisted in the US Army in 1959. He served his country during the Vietnam War from 1959 to 1962.
James married Wanda Evans on November 4, 1961 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
He was the owner and operator of Tarvers Carpet Service until retirement.
James attended Temple Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed all outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, riding four wheelers, camping, walking in the pasture, shooting guns, mowing the lawn, farming, including farm animals, and gardening. He also enjoyed time with friends at the Arrow Café, going to the casino, watching movies, and spending time with his grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Mathew Weger and Logan Deardorff; and brother, Lloyd Robert, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Wanda, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Bud Deardorff of Tecumseh; son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Robin Tarver of Shawnee; son, Bobby Tarver of Tecumseh; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother-in-law, Sharon Patterson of Oklahoma City and Patsy and Melvin Harder of Moore; brother and 1 sister-in-law, Charles and Pat Tarver of Shawnee; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; and many extended family and friends.
Memorial services will be 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 29, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home Chapel, in Tecumseh, Oklahoma, with Reverend Mike Craig officiating under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
